Process Lasso 18.2.2 Final – PC Optimizer

Process Lasso is not just another task manager, but an intelligent system for real-time process automation and optimization. It is designed to address the challenges that modern computers face when multiple applications compete for CPU resources. The result is a more stable system and no more annoying computer freezes.

The software is based on a unique algorithm ProBalance (Process Balance). Its task is to monitor the behavior of each running process. When it detects that a certain program is beginning to monopolize the processor and interfere with the normal operation of other applications or the operating system itself, Process Lasso temporarily lowers its priority. This smart approach ensures that even at 100% CPU load, your computer will remain responsive, the mouse won’t “chop” and you’ll be able to continue your work without lag.

Power User Guide

Optimize for Gaming with Bitsum Highest Performance

  1. Launch Process Lasso and go to Main.
  2. Enable Manage Processes of All Users to give Process Lasso full control.
  3. In Active Power Profile, select Bitsum Highest Performance. This power plan disables CPU core parking and frequency scaling for maximum performance.
  4. Ensure ProBalance is enabled (usually by default) to dynamically lower priority of background tasks.

Reason To Do This: This setup ensures your CPU operates at peak frequency and responsiveness, dedicating maximum resources to your games or demanding applications, reducing stutters and improving FPS.

Set Persistent CPU Priority and Affinity for Specific Applications

  1. Open Process Lasso and launch the target application (e.g., a game or video editor).
  2. Right-click on the application’s process in the Process Lasso list.
  3. For CPU Priority: Navigate to CPU Priority > Always and select High or Above Normal.
  4. For I/O Priority: Navigate to I/O Priority > Always and select High.
  5. For CPU Affinity: Go to CPU Affinity > Always > Select CPU(s)… and choose specific cores, potentially unchecking CPU 0 for system processes.

Reason To Do This: Assigning persistent high CPU and I/O priorities ensures that critical applications receive preferential treatment from the CPU and disk, reducing lag and improving stability. Custom CPU affinity can prevent interference and optimize performance for multi-core processors.

Manage Windows Efficiency Mode for Applications

  1. Open Process Lasso.
  2. Go to Options > CPU > Efficiency Modes.
  3. In the new window, enter the process name (e.g., chrome.exe) in the Process match box.
  4. Select Always and then Off to disable Efficiency Mode for that application.
  5. Alternatively, right-click a running process in the Active Processes tab, hover over Efficiency Mode, then Always, and select Off.

Reason To Do This: Windows Efficiency Mode can save battery life but may introduce latency for certain applications. Disabling it for specific demanding programs ensures they get the necessary resources without being throttled, improving their performance and responsiveness.

Notable Features

  • Automatic Priority Adjustment (ProBalance): Utilizes the unique ProBalance algorithm to dynamically monitor and adjust process priorities, preventing applications from monopolizing CPU resources and ensuring system responsiveness even under heavy load.
  • CPU Affinity Control: Allows users to precisely control which CPU cores an application uses, enabling optimization for older programs or dedicating specific cores for demanding tasks like gaming or video encoding.
  • Micro-Stuttering Elimination: Actively manages system resources to reduce or eliminate micro-delays, leading to a smoother system operation and faster transitions between tasks, particularly beneficial for gaming and professional media work.
  • Energy Profile Automation: Automatically switches Windows power plans based on active programs, for instance, activating “Maximum Performance” mode for games and returning to power-saving mode afterward.
  • Process Watchdog: Offers advanced IFTTT (If This Then That) rules to automate actions based on process behavior, providing granular control over system processes.
  • Instance Balancer: Distributes multiple instances of an application across different CPU cores, preventing a single application from overwhelming specific cores and improving overall system balance.
  • Efficiency Mode Management: Allows users to set and persist per-process Efficiency Mode settings, overriding Windows defaults to prevent latency issues with certain applications.

Fix Common Problems

  • Issue: Installation fails → Solution: Run the installer as administrator.
  • Issue: Settings not persisting after reboot → Solution: Verify that the Core Engine (Governor) is configured to start as a service at system boot via Options > General > CPU > Configure Startup.

FAQ

Is Process Lasso free to use?

Process Lasso operates under a freemium model. While many core features are available indefinitely, some advanced functionalities may be limited by a trial period or require a Pro license for full access and persistent settings. Commercial use typically requires a purchase.

What are the core benefits of using Process Lasso?

The primary benefits of Process Lasso include improved system responsiveness and stability, especially under high CPU loads, through its ProBalance algorithm. It helps prevent system freezes, reduces micro-stuttering, and allows for granular control over CPU resource allocation and power profiles for optimal performance.

Does Process Lasso support portable usage?

A portable edition of Process Lasso exists, allowing it to run without a full installation. However, the developer states that the portable edition is not officially supported and may still write to the system registry, making its true portability questionable.
