Quick Start & Pro Tips

Quickly Open and Navigate Images

1. Launch IrfanView and press O or go to File > Open to select an image.
2. Once an image is open, use the left and right arrow keys to quickly browse through other images in the same directory.
3. For a thumbnail overview, press T or go to File > Thumbnails to see all images in the current folder.

Batch Resize and Convert Images

1. Go to File > Batch Conversion/Rename (or press B).
2. In the dialog, select the input files you wish to process and choose your desired output format and directory.
3. Under Advanced options, you can specify new dimensions for resizing, apply various filters, or perform other image adjustments.
4. Click Start Batch to process all selected images automatically.

Customize Display Options for Optimal Viewing

1. Go to Options > Properties/Settings (or press P).
2. Navigate to the Viewing tab to adjust how images fit the window or desktop. Options include Fit images to window or Do not fit anything.
3. In the Viewing tab, you can also enable Use “Resample” for fitting and Use “Resample” for zooming for improved display quality.
4. In the Start / Exit tab, consider checking Warning on ESC program exit to prevent accidental program closure.
