Is NSIS free for commercial use?

Yes, NSIS is released under a combination of open source licenses (primarily zlib/libpng) that permit free use, modification, and distribution — including in commercial products — without royalties or restrictions.

Can NSIS create installers for 64-bit applications?

Absolutely. NSIS 3.x fully supports 64-bit Windows and can install 64-bit applications, register 64-bit COM components, and access 64-bit registry views natively.

Does NSIS require.NET or Java on the target machine?

No. NSIS produces completely standalone.exe installers with zero runtime dependencies. The end user only needs a compatible Windows version — no frameworks required.
