Download MyRecover for Windows and iOS

MyRecover is a Windows data recovery specialist that restores deleted or lost files from HDDs, SSDs, USB flash drives, SD cards, external drives, and even lost or corrupted partitions. It supports 1000+ file formats — documents, photos, videos, audio, archives, and emails — and handles the data loss situations users care about most: accidental deletion, Shift+Delete, emptied Recycle Bin, formatting, system crashes, and virus attacks.

The free edition recovers up to 500 MB of data on a single PC with a clean three-step workflow: select a location, scan and preview, then recover to a different drive. The Professional edition removes the 500 MB cap and adds partition recovery and crashed-system recovery, while the Technician edition extends unlimited recovery to an unlimited number of PCs and is aimed at technicians, MSPs, and business fleets. MyRecover is 100% safe, virus-free, and uses 256-bit SSL for purchases.

Why It Stands Out

Recovering Files After Accidentally Formatting a Drive

  1. Stop using the formatted drive immediately to prevent the deleted file table from being overwritten with new data.
  2. Launch MyRecover, select the formatted drive from the main screen, and click Scan to start a combined Quick Scan + Deep Scan.
  3. Open the Filter menu to narrow results by file type, size, or modified date, and use the search box to locate specific filenames.
  4. Click any file in the results to Preview it before recovering, so you only restore the data you actually need.
  5. Select the files, click Recover, and save them to a different physical drive or partition — never back to the same formatted volume.

Why: This technique maximizes the chance of recovering files that appear permanently lost after a full format, because as long as the original data blocks have not been overwritten, MyRecover’s deep-scan engine can still reconstruct the file paths and content.

Restoring Data After a Windows System Crash

  1. Boot from a Windows installation USB or a live environment so MyRecover can access the crashed system drive without booting into it.
  2. Install and launch MyRecover (Professional or Technician edition required for crashed-system recovery).
  3. Select the system partition or the specific folder where your files were stored before the crash, then start a Deep Scan.
  4. Preview recoverable files to confirm they are intact, then recover them to an external drive or a different healthy partition.

Why: Booting from external media avoids loading the broken Windows install, which could otherwise trigger further writes to the damaged drive and reduce recovery chances.
