BetterMediaInfo 1.1.0 Download for Windows & macOS
BetterMediaInfo is a modern, open-source graphical frontend for the well-known MediaInfo library, built to make inspecting audio and video metadata faster and far less painful. Instead of dumping every parameter into a wall of text, it organizes codec profiles, bitrates, resolution, frame rate, stream ordering, and container-level attributes into a structured, readable layout that actually makes sense at a glance.
It preserves the complete feature set of the underlying MediaInfo engine while layering on a clean, responsive interface with drag-and-drop support, making it ideal for anyone working in media management, encoding validation, or post-production. The app also bundles an integrated FFmpeg Tools window that adds seekable frame previews, screenshot capture, contact sheets, and scene-change detection, turning a pure inspection tool into a lightweight analysis workstation.

Main Features
- Structured MediaInfo Metadata View: Displays every parameter that the MediaInfo library can extract — codec profiles, bitrates, resolution, frame rate, stream ordering, and container attributes — in a categorized, readable layout instead of the default raw text dump.
- Drag-and-Drop Workflow: Drop one or more audio or video files directly onto the window to inspect them instantly, removing the need to navigate dialog boxes or type paths manually during batch review.
- FFmpeg Tools Window: Integrated utilities powered by FFmpeg that allow seekable frame-by-frame previews and screenshot capture for video files, bringing lightweight analysis tools into the same application.
- Flexible Screenshot Capture Modes: Capture frames by exact frame number, at fixed intervals, every second, at keyframes, at detected scene changes, as thumbnails, or as full contact sheets, with optional de-duplication and border trimming.
- Full MediaInfo Feature Parity: Preserves the entire underlying MediaInfo feature set, so users get every technical detail without sacrificing accuracy or completeness when switching from the original CLI/GUI.
- Edge WebView2 Powered Interface: Built on Microsoft Edge WebView2, which is pre-installed on most modern Windows systems, giving the app a responsive, modern UI without requiring heavy runtime dependencies.
- Cross-Platform Availability: Available as an MSI setup and portable executable on Windows x64, plus a native aarch64 disk image for Apple Silicon Macs, covering the two most common desktop platforms for media professionals.
Highlights in New Version
- Added an FFmpeg Tools window for video files featuring a seekable frame preview and screenshot capture engine.
- Screenshot capture supports frame-number targeting, fixed intervals, every-second grabs, keyframe extraction, and automatic scene-change detection.
- New thumbnail and contact-sheet generation modes let users assemble visual overviews of long clips in one click.
- Frame de-duplication and optional border trimming were added to the capture pipeline to keep exported sheets clean.
