Prime95 is a globally recognized software designed to test the stability of computer systems by subjecting them to extreme stress on the CPU and RAM. Although originally created to find new prime numbers (Mersenne prime numbers), it has become the standard for hardware diagnostics.
The program performs complex mathematical calculations and then checks whether the results are correct. If the hardware is unstable (due to overheating, faulty components, or improper overclocking), the calculations will result in an error that Prime95 will immediately report.

Key Features
- Maximum CPU Load: Loads all CPU cores to 100%, revealing cooling or power issues that might not be apparent during normal usage.
- Memory Diagnostics: Large FFTs or Blend mode allows checking for RAM errors by stressing the memory subsystem.
- Error Detection: If an inaccuracy is detected in the calculations, the test of the corresponding core stops and an error message is displayed.
- Overclocking Validation: Essential tool for verifying safe frequency and voltage settings after hardware modifications.
- Hardware Stability Testing: Comprehensive stress testing to identify unstable components before they cause system failures.
How to Install
Installation Steps
- Click the download button to get the installer for your operating system
- Locate the downloaded file and double-click to run it
- Extract and run Prime95 directly – no installation required
- Select the desired test type (Blend, FFT, etc.) and start testing
Compatibility: Compatible with Windows 7 and later versions
Problem Solving
- Issue: High CPU temperatures → Solution: Ensure adequate cooling before testing
- Issue: False errors → Solution: Verify system is stable at stock settings first
